Founder: Daniel Harper, born in 1980 in Manchester, UK, first encountered a butterfly training knife during his university years in 2002. What began as a fascination quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Inspired by the precision, coordination, and discipline involved in balisong flipping, Daniel dove deep into the art of balisong training.

Over the years, Daniel collected dozens of butterfly trainer models and dedicated himself to promoting safe, skill-based flipping as a hobby and discipline. In 2010, he moved to China and partnered with experienced craftsmen to open a small 600-square-meter workshop focused solely on safe, unsharpened balisong trainers.

As his reputation grew, so did the demand. That workshop has since expanded into a modern 2,000-square-meter facility producing over 100 styles of premium butterfly training knives, with designs inspired by both classic techniques and modern flipping culture.

Today, Daniel and his team proudly introduce balisong.uk – a dedicated online store created for UK enthusiasts to explore, train, and share the balisong culture legally and responsibly. All of our knives are unsharpened training tools, designed for flipping practice, collection, or gifting.

We are proud to offer original designs that cater to flippers of all skill levels. With exports to the USA and other countries, our mission remains the same: to spread the joy of balisong training and build a friendly, safe community around this amazing art form.
